Beer, Wheat, Wars and the Symphony!
What better way to celebrate the long-standing agricultural tradition of being wheat producers than to brew a heritage wheat beer! Let’s celebrate our history in a very sensory and particularly tasty way!
Bushwakker Brewing Company Ltd. is pleased to announce a new partnership with Parks Canada. The two are working together to produce a Motherwell Homestead branded Red Fife Wheat Beer, as part of Parks Canada’s “Cultivating Victory” celebrations. Motherwell Homestead National Historic Site is located an hour northeast of Regina, and is a great site to connect with living history, farm animals and prairie life from years ago.
‘Cultivating History’ will be Motherwell Homestead special 2015 Commemoration and it will be done in grand style. Their special events pay tribute to the efforts of the men and women of the prairies who supplied and supported Allied forces on the front and will include the Symphony under the Sky http://reginasymphony.com/concerts/item/?n=151, and special participation of the Armed Forces.
The Bushwakker brewery is producing Motherwell Wheat Beer in the Belgian Witbier style which emphasizes the unique character of Red Fife wheat. From its location in the Strathdee Building in Regina’s Old Warehouse District, to its support for the Canadian Armed Forces, the Bushwakker has a long standing appreciation for heritage and tradition, making the partnership with Parks Canada an ideal one.
“Our corporate philosophy at the Bushwakker has, from its establishment a quarter century ago, included strong support for local institutions and to the preservation of Saskatchewan heritage. Over the years we have also developed close relations with various components of the Canadian Armed Forces. This partnering allows us to strengthen all three of these community links. Our participation in the Symphony under the Sky event is particularly exciting because we get to brew a very special new beer and we look forward with great anticipation to that first sip” said Bev Robertson, Bushwakker founder and president.
A “firkin-tapping” preview event will take place Friday, August 21 at 5:30 at the Bushwakker Brewpub involving a piper who is a serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces as well as Motherwell Homestead employees in period dress. The public and the media will be provided a special opportunity to sample the Motherwell Homestead wheat beer prior to the official launch of the beer during the Symphony under the Sky Event at Motherwell Homestead on August 29. During that event, the beer will be available for purchase. Tickets for the August 29 event are available at Bushwakker Brewpub, the Regina Symphony Orchestra Box Office and Motherwell Homestead NHS.
