1910 - The Water Works Pumping Station on Broadway. The Town Council and other officials are inspecting the erection of a derrick for drilling in search for water. A hole was put down 1000 feet and was as dry at the bottom as it was at the top. Town officials in the photo are from left to right: Bob Lock, Dr. C.M. Henry, F.McArthur, W. Duncan, T. Switzer, Mayor J.A.M. Patrick, Joseph Clark, Bruce Appleton. This building was enlarged and remodeled in 1910 to make room for the electric power generators and engine. It was destroyed by fire in January 1911. — (Today, Tapps Brewing Company is located on the north part of this lot at #69 Broadway Street West.) The large 2 storey City Electric Light Building — often referred to nowadays as the “old Power House” was erected in 1913 to replace the 1910 building. It stands further north of this area.
