On June 25, 2011 Father Valadimir Kolpakov was greeted as a cosmopolitan silver jubilarian at a special celebration held at St. Mary's Cultural Centre.
Father Vlad began his earthly journey among the Ukrainians of Venezuela and at and early age, moved to the USA - New Jersey, to be exact- where he received his elementary, secondary and university education. He tried out a contemplative group of brothers founded by Mother Theresa and finally ended up with the Redemptorists, continuing his studies in Wisconsin, Connecticut and Toronto.
Perhaps he heard that Canada is the best place in the world in which to live - according to our own humble expert opinion, of course - and figured out that the West is now "in", because he accepted to carry out most of his priestly ministry in Saskatchewan, giving his time as associate pastor to Ituna, Saskatoon and Yorkton, as pastor in Wynyard and as chaplain to various church organizations.
Many have benefited from his practical approach to life and duty, and his skill in delivering lessons that are authentic and effective. We appreciate his kind heart that motivates him to serve whenever he sees a need, and his capacity for careful listening that includes taking the trouble to remember people by name. He is known for his intuitive perception that drives us to laughter when he pops up with some comment or observation that perfectly describes the humor to be found in a life situation.
Many wishes as those productive years serve as stepping stones to a future filled with joy, inner peace and satisfaction, good health and many blessings for you and your loved ones as you continue your priestly service.
