A new vehicle donated by Yorkton Hyundai will help raise money for an upcoming Habitat for Humanity build in the city.
Habitat for Humanity Yorkton will hold a lottery for the car, a 2012 Hyundai Accent, over the next six months.
At $5 a ticket, Habitat Yorkton fundraising chair Laurie Renton hopes to raise as much as $50,000 towards building a home for a family in need.
Both Renton and Yorkton Hyundai owner Ron Kaban said that they would like to make the "Hyundai for Habitat" project an "ongoing venture" in the coming years, perhaps eventually raising enough money to fund an entire construction project.
"I wanted to give back to the community," said Kaban. "That's big on Hyundai's part-they're all about family and building."
The car will be visible until December at various businesses around Yorkton, starting with Kahkewistahaw Gas & Convenience Store. It will be moved each month.
"Wherever the car is, they'll be selling tickets. You can get them from any board member, and I think they'll be on the webpage, which is
habitatyorkton.ca," said Habitat for Humanity Regina CEO Dennis Coutts.
The draw date is December 20, 2012.
