Drop-in Influenza Immunization Clinics are being held for all age groups in the Sunrise Health Region to provide additional opportunities for influenza protection in our communities.

There are a high number of deaths in Saskatchewan this year from the current strain of influenza which is circulating; H1N1. It is important that those who have not been immunized consider doing so, as there is the potential for a second wave of illness. Additionally, the influenza immunization provides coverage for more than just the H1N1 virus. The vaccine which is provided at all the clinics offers protection from other serious influenza virus strains that may emerge later in the season.

Influenza immunization is now available to adults, teens and children, with the exception of infants under 6 months of age. Persons aged 20 to 59 years, and persons with underlying health conditions and risk factors for severe influenza illness should be immunized as soon as possible.
