Junior citizens

The Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association, in partnership with SaskPower, and the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, is pleased to announce the 2012 recipients of the Junior Citizen of the Year Award.


The Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association, in partnership with SaskPower, and the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, is pleased to announce the 2012 recipients of the Junior Citizen of the Year Award.

Of the 79 nominations received, four Saskatchewan youth were selected to receive the award and will be presented with a $3,000,00 scholarship to further their post secondary education.

The four recipients selected are:

Alana Krug-MacLeod, Saskatoon, Age 14

Anna Jean Currie, Regina, Age 18

Daniel Peters, Eagle Ridge, Age 14

Lindsay Danielle Martel, North Battleford, Age 18

Her Honour the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan will present the awards at a ceremony at Government House in Regina at 2:00 p.m. on June 21.

Applicants under the age of 19 by May 31, 2013 are encouraged to enter the 2013 Junior Citizen of the Year Awards, which will open for nominations in December 2012.
