Kim Walker is expected to be released from prison this Friday.
Although Walker was denied parole in April for failing to show sufficient insight into his actions, he is eligible under Canada's statutory release law to return to the community after serving two-thirds of his sentence. That date for Walker is July 13, 2012: one year after he received an 18-month sentence for manslaughter.
Kim Walker is the Yorkton man convicted of killing his daughter's boyfriend James Hayward in 2003. After having his first conviction overturned, he was found guilty of manslaughter in a second trial last spring.
Walker has previously said he intends to return to Yorkton upon release.
