On October 11, 2012, Saskatchewan will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Legislative Building. Premier Brad Wall and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Dan D'Autremont invite everyone to attend this celebration. Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will also be in attendance.

The celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a program in the Chamber.

There will be a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal presentation and a 2012 time capsule ceremony. These events will be broadcast across the province via live video stream, local cable companies and Sasktel Max. Following the program in the Chamber, there will be cupcakes, family activities, Legislative Building station tours and a showcase of Saskatchewan artists and entertainment. The night will conclude with a fireworks display at 8:45 p.m.

"This event is not only a chance to celebrate a centennial milestone, but an opportunity for community to come together," Minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission Kevin Doherty said. "As our province grows and our economy strengthens, we celebrate the character of those who help found the province and recognize that enviable quality of life we enjoy today is because of their perseverance and vision."

While at the Legislative Building, people can also check out the Centennial Art Show, "An Archival Celebration;" the "Share Your Story" exhibit and the premiere of "The Saskatchewan Dream" videos produced by high school students from across the province.
