America's Funniest Home Videos has been around for more than two decades, and when the show airs Feb. 19, there will be a local connection.
A video submitted by Heather Becker of Roblin, MB. will be on the show. The video highlights Elmer and Connie Werschler of Langenburg.
The video was actually shot three years ago, explained Connie Werschler.
"It was a prank played on me," she said.
Werschler said her family had a get together and she ended up blindfolded and walking a plank, thus the name 'Plank Prank' associated with the video on the TV show.
Werschler said her niece "had thought all the time that it was funny," and finally decided to submit it to the show last November.
When the video was accepted "we were all very shocked," she said, adding it is one of three finalists on the show.
The video has already earned the Werschlers and Becker an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles for the taping of the AFHV episode.
"It was really quite an experience to be there," said Connie Werschler.
The experience could continue too. As a show finalist it will earn a prize of at least $2,000 for Becker. If it wins, and gets the $10,000 prize, it will also move on and could end up winning $100,000.
Werschler said they are discussing how the prize might be split with Becker, adding if they get some money "it will probably go to a holiday."
When the show does air Werschler said she expects many friends to be tuning in.
"A lot of people know about it," she said.
