A new show highlighting local and regional artist is launching at the Godfrey Dean Gallery in Yorkton.
The 2011 Landscape and Memory exhibition will feature paintings, sculptures, prints, photography and jewellery by 25 artists.
"The theme is intended to be very inclusive," detailed a Gallery release. "The ideas of Landscape and Memory can refer to all kinds of images and media including traditional landscapes and wildlife, photographs that capture memories, portraits of people and places, and even travel images that reflect the landscapes and memories of faraway places. Sculpture, fabric art and other forms of expression are welcome."
"We want to make sure the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery maintains a strong connection and represents the local artist community," said gallery director Donald Stein in the release. "The annual Landscape and Memory exhibition allows us to showcase the tremendous range of talent that we enjoy in our region. It's a chance to engage and encourage local artists to share their work with the public.
"And as always, the gallery encourages you to consider urban and cultural landscapes as well as traditional ideas of landscape. For example, images of tattoos take place on the landscape of the body."
The exhibition continues until June 24, with an artist's reception at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 15th.
