Premium Brands Operating Group Inc., of Yorkton has pleaded guilty to one charge under occupational health and safety legislation and was fined $28,000 in Yorkton Provincial Court on February 11, 2014.
The company pleaded guilty to:
contravening section 137 of the regulations (failure to provide an effective safeguard where a worker may contact a dangerous moving part of a machine) and was fined $20,000 with a $8,000 surcharge.
The conviction relates to an incident on November 1, 2011, where a worker was seriously injured while sanitizing a paddle mixer.
In 2013-14 there have been 65 convictions for occupational health and safety violations with total fines of nearly $470,000.
