The Parkland Writers' Alliance (PWA) is hoping a new partnership with the Yorkton Public Library and this newspaper will bring aspiring scribes out of hiding.
"We're hold a writing contest in hopes of building the writing community in Yorkton," said Dan Dadowich, PWA coordinator.
The contest is open to all ages and all formats of writing, poetry, prose, fiction and non-fiction.

The group will be accepting submissions until August 20. There is a maximum of two entries of no more than 1,000 words per person.
The three winners will be announced and their works published in Yorkton This Week on September 10. They will also receive prizes of $50, $30 and $20.
To celebrate the contest, the partners are sponsoring a special reading September 16 featuring P.J. Worrell (a.k.a. Peggy Weinmaster) who will read from her latest release Proudflesh, a collection of short stories published by Thistledown Press.
"My writing is who I am, it's my way of being in the world," says Worrell, formerly of Yorkton. "I draw my readers into folksy tales about ordinary people, then surprise them. I am surprised by my plucky characters and my cheeky stories. I am surprised by life."
Members of the PWA will also read and contest participants will be invited to get up to the podium as well.
