Alan Naegeli and Larry Babcock’s weekend got off to a great start! The long-time friends won $100,000 on the Friday, May 19 WESTERN MAX draw.
Naegeli and Babcock - who live in Melville and Neudorf, respectively - won their prize by matching six of the seven main draw numbers and the bonus number.
“I woke up at 4:30 the morning after the draw and couldn’t fall back to sleep,” said Naegeli. “I got up and checked our lottery numbers online. I couldn’t believe it!”
The happy winner said he checked the numbers a few times to be sure he was reading the ticket properly.
“I thought of waking my wife, but I thought it would be a better idea to let her have some coffee first,” he said. “When she got up, I asked her, “What would you do if you won $50,000?”
“After that, we texted Larry and his wife and told them the good news,” he said. “We were all really happy and excited!”
The friends both said they plan to use their winnings to pay off bills.
The winners purchased their winning WESTERN MAX ticket at Mr. TJ’s Foods, located at 825 7th Avenue North in Melville.
