He had been commanded by the King to produce a story of Scottish history and "MACBETH" was the end result. Stage performances were very popular in olden days, as they were in the days of settlement. A yearning for entertainment would have drawn all the large population of Anglo-Canadian, Scottish and English settlers of the town and of the neighboring rural areas to the performance.
