A 32-year-old Yorkton man is in custody for the September murder of Kelly Goforth.

Regina police arrested Clayton Eichler New Year's Eve. He made his first court appearance January 2 in Regina and was remanded until tomorrow.

On September 25, 2013, 21-year-old Goforth's body was found in an alley behind McAra Street in an industrial area of Regina. Police had originally been alerted of a sick or injured person.

Eichler is charged with second-degree murder.

According to media reports from Regina, Goforth's mother Maxine, sister Shayleen, other family members and other supporters showed up for Eichler's hearing.

"I wanted to see the man responsible," Maxine told reporters outside the court house, "I wanted to see his face to see if he looked at me. He didn't. But I don't wish harm on him or his family. He has a mom, I'm sure; he has family. I don't wish harm on anybody. My baby girl wouldn't want that either."

Maxine was grateful to Regina police.

"What a good way to end 2013, to begin the New Year with my grandson. May justice be done for his mommy."
