Man injured in Rockford shooting

A 53-year-old Rockford woman accused of shooting an adult male has been remanded in custody by a Yorkton Provincial Court judge.

Sheila Barber is charged with aggravated assault, discharge firearm with intent to cause harm, unsafe storage of firearms, uttering threats and using a firearm in the commission of a criminal offence.

The unidentified victim’s gunshot wound was non-life threatening according to an RCMP press release, but he was transported to hospital in Saskatoon. There has been no update on his condition.

On December 14 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Canora Mounties responded to a report of an injured person at a rural residence near Rockford, approximately 130 kilometres north of Yorkton.

Barber, who police say knew the victim, appeared in Yorkton court December 16. The case was adjourned to today, December 21, for a bail hearing.
