Manufacturing is one of Saskatchewan's flagship economic industries and, this October the Government of Saskatchewan along with Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) is applauding the successes of producers from across the country during National Manufacturing Month.

"This month is a chance to recognize the economic contributions of all manufacturers, but especially the almost 2,000 world-class companies that call this province home," Economy Minister Bill Boyd said. "Manufacturing is a $15.7 billion industry in this province that is not only helping to innovate for the future, but is creating good paying jobs and plenty of growth opportunities right here in Saskatchewan."

Manufacturing accounts for $5.5 billion in exports and contributes approximately 6.0 per cent to the province's GDP. In the 2013-14 provincial budget, the Government of Saskatchewan, through the Ministry of the Economy, committed $500,000 toward the development of the Saskatchewan Manufacturing Centre of Excellence.

"Saskatchewan manufacturers are recognized around the world for their ingenuity, innovation and integrity," CME Vice President and Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Manufacturing Council Derek Lothian said.

"They are not only setting Canadian benchmarks; they are global leaders in industrial excellence. National Manufacturing Month is the perfect forum to recognize these contributions, and celebrate their successes."

November 24-28, 2014 will be proclaimed as Manufacturing Week in Saskatchewan. For a full schedule of events, please visit www.economy.gov.sk.ca/mfgweek.
