Monday is election day

Saskatchewan voters go to the polls Monday, Nov. 7. In Yorkton voters have a choice of one of three candidates, Chad Blenkin of the New Democrat Party, Catherine McDonald of the Green Party and Greg Ottenbreit of the Saskatchewan Party.

In Yorkton voters have a choice of one of three candidates, Chad Blenkin of the New Democrat Party, Catherine McDonald of the Green Party and Greg Ottenbreit of the Saskatchewan Party.

To be eligible to vote, you must be 18 on or before election day, a Canadian citizen and have had your primary residence in the constituency for six months prior to Oct. 10 of this year.

This year voters will need to present two pieces of identification at the polls, a voter I.D. and a driver's license being ideal. Birth certificates, Canadian passports and blank cheques can be used. They need to have a voter's name and address.

Polls will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with 44 polls in the riding, at seven locations: St. Gerard's Parish Hall, St. Mary's Cultural Centre, Ukrainian Orthodox Auditorium, Prairie Harvest Christian Life Centre, Gloria Hayden Centre, Yorkdale Central School, and St. Paul's School

Voters unable to vote Monday may use advance polls at St. Gerard's Parish Hall. The advance polls will be held:

Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. CST

Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. CST

Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. CST

Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 from 12 noon to 7 p.m. CST
