Last week, Mosaic became the latest donor to come on board with Parkland College's Trades and Technology Centre.
The company matched Potash Corporation's contribution of $1.225 million bringing the college's capital campaign to a total of over $4.79 million.
"I cannot thank Mosaic enough for this generous contribution," said Parkland College President Dr. Fay Myers. "Mosaic's name is well known in the Parkland Region and all across Saskatchewan. This gift stands out as a great act of leadership and underscores Mosaic's tremendous impact on our province."
The Trades and Technology Centre is designed to bring new programs and services to the Parkland Region to help sustain economic growth of east central Saskatchewan. The facility provides the space to train more than 350 skilled graduates per year and upgrade the skills of 2,000 workers annually.
Bruce Bodine, vice president of Mosaic's Esterhazy operations said institutions like the Trades and Technology Centre are essential to continuing prosperity.
"Investing in developing a skilled workforce supports growth and sustainability," he said, . "For communities and industry alike, long-term success relies on attracting and retaining people in the areas where we operate."
Last month, the Government of Saskatchewan announced $10 million in funding for the centre, encouraging Parkland College to move quickly to build it. The tendering process is underway. Construction is scheduled to being early in 2014, with an opening target of September 2015.
