A group of Yorkton mothers participate in the Quintessence Nursing Challenge at Parkland Mall October 4 as part of World Breastfeeding Week. The challenge is a friendly competition to see what province, state or territory can get the most babies "latched on" at 11 a.m. local time. It started in British Columbia in 2001 as a way of celebrating breastfeeding and highlighting the benefits of human milk for human babies in a fun, social way. This year, 211 sites in seven countries registered for the event shattering last year's record of 163. World Breastfeeding Week is held in the 40th week of the year (this year October 1 to 7) symbolizing the 40th week of pregnancy at which point a baby is considered full-term.
