Jaycee Mildenberger, who stands accused of murdering Gwenda Gregory in 2009, was denied bail by a Regina court judge last week.

There was to be a preliminary hearing starting March 11, but the defence consented to commit the matter to trial.

Mildenberger, of Usherville, has remained in custody since his arrest in June 2012.

Gregory, 50, was found dead in her Usherville home on March 7, 2009. Officials determined the case was a homicide after a preliminary investigation and homicide.

For three years the investigation dragged on including more than 300 interviews, aerial and ground searches and forensics exercises.

Finally, in the spring of 2012, RCMP caught an undisclosed break that led them to Mildenberger.

The trial will be held in Yorkton, but a trial date is yet to be set.
