The Western Development Museum (WDM) has a new brand.
The branding, including a new logo was unveiled to a small gathering at the Yorkton branch of the WDM Thursday.
In consultation with WDM stakeholders, including Museum members and volunteers, the WDM developed a new logo, tagline – ‘Saskatchewan Inspired’ and touch mark. The WDM expects that this exciting new brand will help to emphasize the distinctiveness of our Museum.
“We went kind of vintage modern with the new logo,” said WDM CEO Joan Champ.
“The vintage feel reflects the many artifacts, while modern evokes the Museums’ current approach. The logo has been carefully handcrafted to communicate a fun and welcoming feeling – identical to the visitor experience at the Museum,” noted a Museum release.
“The new tagline ‘Saskatchewan Inspired’ works because the Museum is focused on the unique history of Saskatchewan. The WDM believes that all visitors are inspired by the Saskatchewan exhibits and programs presented at the Museum. By telling ‘Saskatchewan Inspired’ stories, the Museum celebrates artifacts that represent the innovation, creativity and resourcefulness that are so much a part of Saskatchewan’s heritage.”
Ken Azzopardi, Chair of the WDM Board, said the four WDM museums in the province can be a great resource for new Canadians wanting to learn about this country. He said through visitors they can come “to understand what the province is all about.”
Azzopardi said he also encourages local residents to visit the museum more often, adding as an organization “we are trying to stay ahead of the curve here,” in creating programming and displays of relevance to the community.
To develop such programming Azzopardi did note “we always need partnerships,” telling this gathered the Museum is open to new ideas.
The new logo and tagline are being introduced in phases starting in the fall of 2015.
