Health and Wellness Expo
The first natural health and wellness expo was held in Yorkton in March 2014 at Gallagher Centre. It returns this year April 22 and 23 at SIGN on Broadway.

A local business person has teamed up with the Family Resource Centre to bring a natural health event back to Yorkton April 22 and 23 at SIGN on Broadway.

Stacey Tress, of Garden Therapy Yorkton, said she wanted the event to coincide with Earth Day.

“We have an Earth day ceremony Friday night with unique things like a tobacco ceremony and a drum circle,” Tress said. “There’s also a yoga class that night.”

The event is fully booked with 28 booths

The slate of exhibitors includes local food security initiatives, hypno-birthing, essential oils, acupuncture, reiki, yoga, crystal healing and more, Tress said.

“There’s quite a diverse group of natural health and wellness folks, so it’s pretty exciting,” Tress said.

Garden Therapy Yorkton will be one of the exhibitors. Tress explained the business grew out of her being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis 13 years ago. Originally a horticulturist, she teaches traditional food skills such as how to grow and preserve food. The business includes fermentation, sprouting and holistic nutrition. She also sells essential oils as a distributor of Young Living products.

In addition to vendor booths there will be presentations both Friday night and Saturday. Everything is free with an adult admission of $5.

It’s a good deal,” Tress said. “There will be lots of freebies and fun for the whole family. Of course, we’re co-sponsoring with the Family Resource Centre so they’re going to be there and they’ll have a kids activity area, so there’s certainly something for everybody.”
