The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce elected its 2016 President at the January Board of Directors meeting held this morning. The Chamber’s Board of Directors is comprised of 16 elected members, who in turn, elect the Executive.

Corey Werner, Owner of CORE Real Estate Inc, will lead the Chamber in 2016. Corey is serving the second year of his fifth term as a Chamber Director.

Corey feels privileged to assume his role as President. “I feel honoured that my fellow Directors have elected me as their President,” he said. “I have been a Director for a number of years so I have seen the growth of both the community and the Chamber in that time.”

Following a planning session held earlier this week, the Chamber’s Directors developed a list of goals it wants to accomplish for the year.  “The Directors and Staff look forward to the challenges and opportunities the Chamber will face in the upcoming year,” he said. “We will all work hard to achieve them.”

Joining Corey on the Executive are Joel Martinuk, Past President; Shawn Patenaude, Vice President; Kelly Price, Chair of the Business Development committee; Mike Popowich, Chair of the Events committee; Susan Stewardson, Chair of the Marketing & Communications committee; and Brent Murdock, Chair of the Policy committee.

During the Board’s Planning session, the Directors identified the 2016 priorities including monitoring the city’s implementation of the recommendations from the Transportation & Growth Opportunity study;  s working with the Yorkton Airport Authority to assist in the expansion of the Regional Airport; and being responsive to the needs of the Chamber members.
