The Government of Canada has announced new funding to support youth in Yorkton to help them gain the skills, knowledge and experience they need to enter and succeed in the job market.

The Yorkton Friendship Centre is receiving support from the Skills Link program to help youth overcome barriers to employment. Skills Link is part of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES).

"Our government's top priority is creating jobs and economic growth," said Yorkton-Melville MP Garry Breitkreuz. "Our government's Youth Employment Strategy is helping youth develop the skills and gain the experience they need to get jobs now and prepare for the workforce of tomorrow."

The participants in the Yorkton Friendship Centre's project will attend life and employability workshops that focus on topics such as resume writing, communication and leadership. They will then apply their new skills and gain hands-on experience through work placements with local employers.
