A new music promoter in Yorkton is promising to bring some big name entertainment to the city, starting with hip hop star Karl Wolf who will be at Holly's Nite Club Thursday, Aug. 26.

Skilly Sciliberto, president of Indestructible Entertainment, which has been based in Ontario, but Sciliberto is moving to Yorkton, said he sees a lot of potential to host shows in the city. He said being situated between major venue cities such as Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Edmonton means many name acts are passing through, often with a night they could do a show.

When you consider venues in Yorkton such as The Spot, Holly's and the Anne Portnuff Theatre the opportunity to host such shows certainly exists in Yorkton, said Sciliberto.

Karl Wolf, in cooperation with Molson Coors, is the first example of what Sciliberto said is possible.Wolf has been nominated for a Juno, a MuchMusic Award and has had four songs chart. His best known effort is a remake of the song Africa.

"It hit number two in all of Canada," said Sciliberto, adding Wolf does a blend of hip hop and rock which has proven popular. " He's selling out shows left, right and centre."

A metal show featuring We Came As Romans is already booked for The Spot Oct. 3.

Sciliberto said he'll also be working with country acts, having a show with Jason Blaine in the works, with the Fox Battle of the Bands winner The Steve Gibson Band opening the show. The show is also scheduled for October.

Sciliberto said another show which he is close to inking for a Yorkton event is the lead singer of Creed Scott Stapp.

"He's performing an acoustic show. It will be an intimate concert with him doing Creed songs," said Sciliberto, adding "we're really, really close. It's 99 per cent. It's definitely looking like it's going to happen."Sciliberto said he plans to promote shows regularly in the city.
