In October, two new physicians are scheduled to arrive and receive orientation to Sunrise Health Region. The health region recruited the physicians to fill vacancies in Preeceville and area.

Dr. Catharina Meyer will arrive in the region and begin a week of orientation on October 3, 2016. Another physician is expected to begin a week of orientation on October 11, 2016, pending successful completion of the Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment (SIPPA).

After orientation, the physicians will join Dr. Morteza Shahrestani and Nurse Practitioner Dawn Kennedy in accepting appointments at the Preeceville Health Care Centre. Ahead of the physicians’ arrival, the clinic continues to be fully operational with appointments available, by calling 306-547-3098.

Consultations to develop a plan for emergency services will occur with the new physicians after they have completed their orientation.

“Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with members of Preeceville Town Council and Preeceville Health Action Committee,” says President and CEO, Suann Laurent. “We discussed the importance of working together to welcome, support and retain the physicians and nurse practitioner.”
