More alleged victims have come forward to accuse a former Yorkton gynecologist of sexual assault.
Dr. Mohammad Haque—who practiced in Yorkton until 2013 when he was sanctioned by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan for “unprofessional conduct”—was originally arrested February 2 on six counts of sexual assault allegedly committed between 2001 and 2008.
The charges were all related to the physician’s medical practice and were the result of a lengthy investigation by Yorkton RCMP
At a scheduled appearance in Yorkton Provincial Court May 30, the Crown revealed another 10 counts of sexual assault.
London, Ontario defence attorney George Green appearing by phone on behalf of his 72-year-old client notified the Court Haque had received disclosure on the original charges, but the defence had not received the new information.
Green requested and was granted an adjournment until June 27.
At a press conference February 18, RCMP Staff Sgt. Greg Nichol, now retired, asked any other women who may have been victims to come forward.
The victims cannot be named pursuant to a publication ban.
