Forms are now available to nominate businesses for Yorkton's Celebrate Success Business Awards. Presented by the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce, the Business Awards Ceremony will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at St. Mary's Cultural Centre, Yorkton.
Laurie Fedorowich, Co-Chair of the Chamber's Events Committee said that the ceremony is one of the most prestigious events for the Yorkton business community. "Businesses are honoured to be nominated for an award," she said. "Being nominated means that your peers or others in the community recognize the success of your business and the contribution it makes to the community."
Juanita Polegi, Executive Director of the Chamber agrees that the business community appreciates the opportunity to be nominated for an award. However, a business does not have to rely on someone else to nominate it. "We encourage businesses to nominate themselves to let us know about the successes they have achieved', said Polegi. "This is not a time to be humble."
Celebrate Success Business Awards are presented only every second year. Chamber members and non-members alike are eligible for nomination.
There are 10 categories in which a business could be nominated. New to the Awards this year is the division in Business of the Year Award. Polegi indicated the change is a result of member feedback. "Based on discussions with members and a survey sent out to a variety of businesses following the 2012 Awards, the Committee decided to split Business of the Year in to 2 awards", she said. "2014 will be the first time that a Small Business of the Year Award will be presented as well as a Large Business of the Year."
As in the past, the independent Judging Panel will select the two Business of the Year Award recipients from all the nominations received. "A business has to be nominated in one or more categories to be considered for either of the Business of the Year Awards," said Polegi. Criteria for all the Award categories is available from the Chamber office or on the Chamber's website www.yorktonchamber.com
Nomination forms are also available on the website and at the Chamber office. Nomination forms are due Friday February 14. Once a nomination is received, the nominee will receive a package requesting more information.
