The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for four Employee of the Year Awards. One award will be presented in each of four categories - Front Line Employee; Support; Manager; and Spirit.
Each Award recognizes outstanding contributions by employees to their places of employment and to the community.
Juanita Polegi, Executive Director, indicated this is the first time that the ERE will present four Awards. “With more than 30 nominations in 2015, the Chamber’s Events committee decided to add two new Awards – the Managerial and Spirit,” she said.
Polegi then described the four Awards. The Front Line Award is designed for those employees who are often the first point of contact between the public and the business. The Support Award is intended for the behind-the-scenes employees who keep the business running. Outstanding Managers will be recognized by the Manager of the Year Award. The Spirit Award is intended for employees who are positive, enthusiastic and supportive of their co-workers.
Employers and members of the public are welcome to submit nominations for the Front Line Employee Award. Nominators are expected to explain why the nominees deserve such recognition.
Employers/Supervisors/ only will be able to submit nominations for the Support Employee and Spirit Awards. Only Owners or General Managers will be able to submit nominations for the Manager Award.
Nominators will also be asked to describe why the nominees should be considered for the award.
The Awards are not just for employees of Chamber members. “Employees in all businesses in Yorkton and the immediate area are eligible for nomination”, said Polegi. “The only criterion is that the employee must have been employed by the business for one or more years.”
The Employee of the Year Awards will be presented at the 2017 Employee Recognition Event, held in conjunction with the Chamber’s AGM Wednesday April 26 at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Cultural Centre.
Nomination forms may be obtained from the Chamber office or from the Chamber website (www.yorktonchamber.com/events). Nominations close at 5:00 pm Monday April 3.
Photos and biographies of the nominees will be posted on the Chamber website for one week following the close of nominations. Each Chamber member will then have the opportunity to cast one vote for the nominee considered most deserving for each of the Awards.
