A 23-year-old Yorkton man is dead and a 15-year-old youth was injured following a crash at Gladstone Avenue and Independent Street in Yorkton February 13.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:15 a.m. when Eryck Larose lost control of his vehicle and collided with a power pole at the corner. Police said Larose was pronounced dead at the scene.

His male passenger, who will not be named,  was transported to hospital, treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The Mounties are not speculating on possible factors in the crash pending the release of a toxicology report by the coroner and results from a traffic reconstructionist, who was called to the scene.

Gladstone remained closed between Simpson Street and Franklin Drive for approximately 12 hours as the police investigation continued and SaskPower fixed a damaged power pole.
