Postcard showing the Dominion Government Building/Post Office at Yorkton, Saskatchewan with "God Save The King" banner hanging from front exterior. "Building and street decorations on the occasion of the Coronation of His Majesty, King George V, June 22, 1911." Title from back of postcard. Postcard from the Howard Jackson Collection. George V's and Queen Mary's coronation took place in Westminster Abbey. It is evident from this celebration and others of the early days, that Yorkton people were loyal to the Crown--the greater population of the town in those days being Anglo-Canadians and people from the British Isles.
