One more hurdle to clear

Yorkton snowboarders may be enjoying a new snowboard park as early as February 17.

The project, several years in the planning, is the brainchild of Brennan Wiens, owner of Cab Clothing. Wiens has offered to finance the entire project and has the rails and boxes ready to go and local contractors standing by to complete the work if and as soon as the City approves it.

Lisa Washington, the City's community development manager confirmed that the proposal has made its way through the committee stage and will be before City Council at its regular meeting February 10. She said they are optimistic Council will be on side.

The proposed site for the park is the slope on the north side of Roslyn Avenue near the former location of the city's water tower.

Deputy Mayor Randy Goulden said she would very much like to see the park move forward depending on the proposal.

"I just hope all the information is there so we can make a decision," she said.
