Outgoing chair thanked

Yorkton's Tracy Malayney was thanked Saturday night for her role as the Kinsmen Foundation's outgoing Chair.

"Being the Chair of the Kinsmen Foundation is an incredible pleasure. It is an opportunity to lead some of Saskatchewan's finest volunteers doing some of the kindest work for Saskatchewan people."

Malayney is a member of the Yorkton Kinettes and was first elected to the Kinsmen Foundation Board of Directors in 2009, where she represented Yorkton region applicants in their funding requests from the Foundation. Malayney noted, "Over the four years I have spent on the Board, we have assisted hundreds with funding for special needs equipment like scooters, lift systems, and van conversions. We have also ensured people who need to leave their home community for medical treatment, have travel money to get where they need to be. All our work is very necessary for the people that we help, and very rewarding to our volunteers to have the honour of doing so."

Malayney will have one more year on the Board before retiring. "As with many Past Chairs, the key role for Tracy is passing on knowledge to other members and helping to guide new Board members," said Joan Steckhan, Executive Director of the Kinsmen Foundation. "This is a very committed group of people, volunteering over 250 hours per year to the Foundation plus participating in their own home clubs. There are not a lot of people that are so compassionate as to give that amount of time and to make the difference they do."

Yorkton has both a Kinsmen and a Kinette Club that are active in the Community and are well known for carrying out the Kin motto "Serving the Community's Greatest Need". New members are always welcome. "I am passionate about Kin and welcome people to call me about how they can become part of this fabulous organization." encouraged Malayney

The Kinsmen Foundation makes miracles by providing Saskatchewan people and organizations with special needs equipment and access to medical assistance. Through Telemiracle dollars, the Kinsmen Foundation is able to gift things, such as, mobility equipment, travel costs to get to medical facilities, community vans, and equipment in hospitals and health centres. Telemiracle 38 will be held on March 1st and 2nd, 2014, broadcasting on the CTV network throughout Saskatchewan.
