Just before the action out on the ice at the Jim Kook Rec Plex in Outlook got underway on Wednesday night, December 20, the Ice Hawks hockey team had some special guests in the house that added to the atmosphere and provided some memorable moments that are not normally seen before a senior hockey game.
Talented young skaters with the Outlook Skating Club took to the ice to perform the opening ceremonies before the game between the Ice Hawks and the visiting Beechy Bombers. With both teams lined up on opposing blue lines, the kids glided around the rink and performed a number of different moves that showcased the skills they’ve learned, dazzling the audience.
As well, the skaters took hold of the Saskatchewan and Canada flags and waved them around the rink prior to the singing of O Canada, giving the playing of the national anthem a bit of an upgrade with the impressive skating skills on display and both flags waving proudly in the air at centre ice.
The performance of the Outlook Skating Club drew loud applause from the packed stands in the Jim Kook Rec Plex, and the Ice Hawks recognized their efforts and thanked them by giving the Club a cheque for $300, presented by #43 Daniel Erlandson on behalf of the team.
The unique performance was certainly something different for hockey fans and provided some fun entertainment in its own right before the puck was dropped in the game between Outlook and Beechy.
