Theatre groups from around Saskatchewan are converging on Yorkton for a one act theatre festival, hosted by the Paper Bag Players.

Five groups will be attending the festival, with performances from Corrobert, Regina, Melfort on Friday, November 6, and Indian Head and our home group, the Paper Bag Players in Yorkton on November 7 says Pam Milani with the group. She says they are proud to be the hosts of this year’s event, one of two festivals held each year in the province.

“We like to showcase our city and what we do.”

The process is completely adjudicated, from setup to the play itself to tear down, with awards at the end of the weekend.

The festival itself is completely open to the public, including the adjudication process and the after party each evening at the Masonic Lodge. Milani says that the audience is why they do what they do, and they want to have the public involved in the festival.

“It’s always much more fun if you can perform in front of an audience.”

All performances are at Sacred Heart High School, doors open at 6:30 and performances begin at 7:30. Tickets are $25 for a weekend pass and $15 for an evening.
