In celebration of 50 years, the Community pARTners Gallery held a reception Sunday afternoon to display the work of 22 local artists and give the community a chance to interact with them. One young artist, Hannah Shivak had two paintings, “Vintage Fog” and “Winter Madness” that were both met with admiration by onlookers. “I like the simple beauty and peace of the sky,” Shivak said describing her first piece. On the second piece, she said: “I found this tape technique online where you place small pieces of tape down, paint on and around it, and then rip the tape off to give your work a rough and abstract look. I think it’s important for young people to be involved with the arts to be connected with events like this, and with the help of the Internet, inspiration isn’t far.” For those who were not able to make the reception, the display will be open during the Yorkton Public Library’s regular hours until February 12.
