Living Peace Association is a new, non-profit organization based in Yorkton, from which president Warren Crossman appeared before the regular meeting of Yorkton Council asking that Sept. 21 by marked as International Day of Peace in the city.
"Our vision is "to create a culture of peace." Our mission is to "promote non-violent, peaceful and loving ways of living," as well as "to support initiatives for a more peaceful world," explained Crossman.
Crossman noted the group's first activity would be a Peace Walk on September 21, 2014 at the Western Development Museum to coincide with the International Day of Peace, recognized by the United Nations.
Council was unanimous in proclaiming the day as requested.
