The final suspect in a violent home invasion allegedly perpetrated four months ago in downtown Yorkton is in custody.
Blaine Quewezance, 24, appeared in Yorkton court September 12 on a total of 22 related and unrelated charges including assault, assault with a weapon or causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, assaulting a police officer, breaking and entering with intent, robbery, drug trafficking and dangerous driving.
On May 15, a group of masked and armed male suspects entered a home in the city, assaulted the residents and fled in a pickup truck, the RCMP reported at the time. Mounties gave pursuit resulting in a brief high-speed chase that ended when the vehicle crashed into a power pole. The suspects escaped on foot.
Shortly thereafter, a youth was arrested. Following an investigation, the RCMP issued arrest warrants for Quewezance and 22-year-old Darian Kamienicki.
Kamienicki was caught May 31, but Quewezance remained at large until last week.
During the September 12 hearing, the Crown suggested there may be further charges pending against Quewezance.
A next appearance was scheduled for November 10. Quewezance was remanded in custody until that time.
