Police car involved in accident

On Thursday, April 7, while en route to a two-vehicle collision near Kelliher, Saskatchewan, an RCMP vehicle became involved in a collision.

On Thursday, April 7, while en route to a two-vehicle collision near Kelliher, Saskatchewan, an RCMP vehicle became involved in a collision.

While in heavy fog, the RCMP car with lights and siren activated attempted to pass a CN Rail work truck just north of Ituna, Saskatchewan on Highway 15.The operator of the police vehicle observed an oncoming vehicle and attempted to avoid a head-on collision.In this attempt, the police vehicle struck the CN vehicle, causing the CN truck to slide into the ditch and roll onto its side.

No persons were injured in this accident. The matter remains under investigation by the Melville/Ituna RCMP and the Yorkton RCMPCollision reconstructionist member.


On March 29, 2011, Punnichy RCMP initiated a traffic stop on the Muskowekwan First Nation, SK. This stop lead to the arrest of three individuals for possession of marijuana and a seizure of approximately 1.5 ounces. A search warrant was executed on March 30 at the residence of two of the arrested individuals.

Punnichy RCMP Detachment and an RCMP Canine unit were involved in the search. As a result of the search warrant at the residence and the vehicle stop, Punnichy RCMP seized approximately 200 grams of marijuana with a street value of approximately $2,200.

The following people have been charged in relation to this investigation:

1. Byron Holt, 23, of Muskowekwan FN, Possession for the purpose of trafficking

2. Khrista Manitopyes, 21, of Muskowekwan FN, Possession for the purpose of trafficking

3. Josiah Robert Pambrum, 18, of Rose Valley, Possession of a controlled substance

All three are scheduled for their first appearance in court on May 10, 2011 at 10:00 am in Punnichy Provincial Court.

The investigation is ongoing.
