The Assiniboine Watershed Stewardship Association is once again putting on their annual poster contest and this year we're focusing in on where our water comes from, with the theme being, "Groundwater-Below the Surface". This year it is open to grade 5, 6, and 7 students. They will have an opportunity to win several prize packs locally, with the first place poster having a 1 in 10 opportunity to also win the provincial Grand Prize of a $1000 Outdoor Sporting Gear Package custom chosen by the student themselves!
Possible topics to draw (TIP: google the topics below for ideas of images to draw) a cross-section diagram of an aquifer (google "aquifer" for examples)
drilling a new water well
decommissioning an old water well
people pumping water from a well
a watershed diagram showing the groundwater/aquifer below the surface
a diagram of a wetland showing the groundwater recharge below the surface
or any combination of the above suggested topics.
