The provincial government is providing approximately $293,000 in financial support to agencies that operate the province's problem gambling help line services.

"Support for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling is important to our government," Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority Donna Harpauer said. "This funding will ensure that problem gamblers and their families continue to have access to the support and resources that they need."

Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority is providing $99,705 to the Prince Albert Mobile Crisis Unit Co-operative Ltd., $96,864 to Saskatoon Crisis Intervention Service Inc. and $96,054 to Mobile Crisis Services Inc. of Regina. The annual funding supports crisis management services offered by the agencies, including the toll-free Problem Gambling Help Line.

The 24-hour a day, seven day-a-week Help Line at 1-800-306-6789 handles inquiry and crisis calls related to problem gambling and provides confidential, professional service to problem gamblers and their families from trained counsellors. The services are administered by the Ministry of Health.
