Projects ahead

Bridgework, paving and patching are just a few of the nearly 40 construction projects that are currently underway on Saskatchewan highways this week.

"The government has once again invested heavily in transportation infrastructure this year and we want to make sure the many projects we have planned are carried out safely," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Don McMorris said. "Always be on the lookout for workers and equipment when you head out on the road, and set aside more time if you are going to be passing through work zones."

New activity expected to get underway this week includes work on Highway 15 west of Melville, Highway 35 near Nipawin, and the Emma Lake, Laird and Red Earth access roads.

Drivers must slow to 60 km/hr in work zones or else face fines starting at $300.

The weekly construction update provides Saskatchewan residents with the latest details on projects underway to help plan safe and efficient travel throughout the summer and fall.
