Saskatchewan led the country in manufacturing sales during the month of June; an increase almost ten times the national average, according to a report on manufacturing sales released by Statistics Canada today.

"Our manufacturing sector is creating jobs and opportunities across the province and numbers like these show that Saskatchewan's manufacturing industry continues to grow," Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "Saskatchewan has many innovative and savvy manufacturing companies that are moving the industry forward, and our government will continue to support their hard work."

In June 2011, manufacturing sales were up by 21 per cent over June 2010, the highest increase among the provinces and well ahead of the 2.3 per cent posted nationally over the same period (seasonally adjusted). Sales were also up between May 2011 and June 2011, rising by 0.7 per cent, third highest in Canada and much better than the 1.5 per cent decline on a national level.
