Public accounts

Yorkton Council approved its 2013 Municipal Public Accounts by unanimous vote at its regular meeting Monday.

Yorkton Council approved its 2013 Municipal Public Accounts by unanimous vote at its regular meeting Monday.

"In accordance with The Cities Act and The Cities Regulations, the City of Yorkton is required to produce the public accounts document on an annual basis," explained Shannon Bell, Director of Finance, with the City.

"The regulations were changed in 2010 to be consistent with the Provincial government's regulations for Public Accounts, as a result of recommendations from the Saskatchewan Government Finance Officers Association," detailed a report circulated to Council.

Given that this document includes employee names and titles we do not intend to post it on the City's web page. Most municipalities do not broadcast Public Accounts on the premise that it could potentially increase the risk of identity theft.

Paper copies of the entire eight page document are available to the public upon request at City Hall for $10.00 a copy.
