Pumpkin walk planned

Preparations are well under way for the Yorkton Co-op 1st Annual Pumpkin Walk to take place at the Jaycee Beach walking trails on October 31.

Preparations are well under way for the Yorkton Co-op 1st Annual Pumpkin Walk to take place at the Jaycee Beach walking trails on October 31. They have been very busy in making arrangements for this event, in anticipation that it will be filled with excitement for all of the children in Yorkton.

Currently we have a pumpkin patch growing, and are anticipating that we will be able to pick around 200 pumpkins from the patch. We will have around 700 pumpkins that will be carved by local children through the schools, and also our elderly residents that reside in the Yorkton Nursing home.

The event will feature the following:

A zombie theme trail, for the more adventurous children.

A trail for children to visit participating businesses.

The area will have all walk ways lined with the 700 locally carved pumpkins, which will also showcase the school that the pumpkins came from.

YBID has agreed to cook the hot dogs for all of the hungry visitors; there will also be a hot chocolate booth.

Areas available for children and families to get their picture taken.

We have also had a wonderful donation from Re/Max Blue Chip Realty and Farrell Agencies as they are bringing in an entertainer from Winnipeg.

Fireworks will end this event.

We are looking for your support in this event and would like to have the participation in hanging up the enclosed poster, decorating your store front prior to the event in a Halloween theme of your choice, and if you are interested in having a booth in the event there is still room. The cost will be $100.00 per booth. Each business will be responsible for their own booth including setup, decorating, and clean-up plus any other supplies or treats.

We hope to have 500 children and their parents. The event will run from 6:30 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m. with the fireworks display at the end. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us (306) 783-3601 or (306) 641- 4706.
