Potter says that she is proud of the contribution she made both as part of RBC as well as someone who uses the facility. “It’s been great to be here and experience it. It’s great to have a place to come and just get the advice you need to increase your health.”

Gillian Potter, RBC Royal Bank Branch manager for Yorkton presented a cheque for $40,000 to Ross Fisher, Executive Director of The Health Foundation today. RBC made the commitment in 2015 and provided an initial cheque for $10,000 at that time.

“When Mr. Fisher approached us to discuss support of the Health and Wellness Centre a year ago we were intrigued by the concept of care behind this new facility. This new wellness centre was going to have a variety of different healthcare providers under one roof, working together to make healthcare more accessible and responsive to the needs of patients. We were very interested in supporting that concept,” said Gillian Potter.

“RBC Royal Bank is very interested in education and supports both education and health across the country. When the Foundation advised us that the new Health and Wellness Centre would have an education component, with both telehealth for a variety of chronic medical conditions and with diabetes education and training we decided that we wanted to support the education facilities and equipment needed,” said Mrs. Potter.

“When RBC Royal Bank stepped up with a $50,000 donation, that leadership allowed us to undertake the campaign to raise the funds and move forward with the facility. In return for their significant donation we have named the education room in the facility the RBC Education Room,” said Ross Fisher.

The Sunrise Health and Wellness Centre provides client and family centred care in a team-based environment designed to maximize the efficient and effective flow of people and information.

The Centre is the central hub for integrated primary healthcare in Sunrise Health Region, with a focus on support for individuals with chronic disease conditions, women’s wellness and general health needs.

“On behalf of Sunrise Health Region, I sincerely thank the RBC Royal Bank for sponsoring the education centre and equipment which helps us to provide outreach services,” says Vice President of Integrated Primary Health Services, Sandy Tokaruk. “With the help of the RBC donation and others who have contributed to this project through the Health Foundation, we have this wonderful facility to support primary health care in Sunrise Health Region.”

There are currently 28 permanent members of the Sunrise Health Region primary health care team plus visiting staff who work at the facility to offer a range of primary health care services including clinic appointments and outreach to other communities.  The services offered by the team cover general health, chronic conditions, women’s health and wellness, diabetes management support and nutrition education and pulmonary and coronary rehabilitation.
