Yorkton rural RCMP are investigating the fatal shooting of five cows near Saltcoats.
On Sunday, November 18, the detachment received a report of several dead cattle that had been discovered by a local farmer near a land location in the Saltcoats area.
Investigation into this matter has confirmed that five cows had been fatally shot and a sixth cow had been wounded. Estimated loss to the owner of the cattle is approximately $10,000. The matter remains under investigation with assistance being provided by the Yorkton Forensic Identification Section, Yorkton Police Dog Services, Yorkton Provincial GIS Section, local veterinary services and SERM.
