Annual write-offs by City of Yorkton Departments in 2011, were in par with the previous year.
At the regular meeting of Council Monday Council learned write-offs for 2011 were $51,358, as compared to $48,594 in 2010, excluding losses on tax title property.
The write-offs in 2011 included three in excess of $2,500, which required Council approval.
The write-offs included $16,000 for the balance owing from the Yorkton Curling Club on the windows in the BMO Sports Lounge at the Gallagher Centre, $15,557 owed by the Yorkton Terriers on interest from the 2009/'10 season, and $2,861 owed by Sask-itoba Hockey.
Sask-itoba Hockey, rented ice in 2010 and this organization is defunct and collection not possible. The rental policy has since changed where organizations that are not ongoing users must pay a deposit in advance to booking the facility, explained Lonnie Kaal, Director of Finance with the City.
The write-off is less than half of one per cent of annual revenues when excluding grants, surcharges and other certain income, she added.
