The Saltcoats Housing Authority Board of Directors hosted a special event to honour one of its members for long service. Edith Maddaford has served as a volunteer for fifteen years and will continue on the board in her position as Chairperson.

Maddaford received a Certificate of Recognition from the Province of Saskatchewan and a Long-Service Lapel Pin from the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation in recognition of her years of service. Retiring board member Gwenda Sutherland was also thanked for time she has given to the community as a volunteer with the Housing Authority.

Board members and friends were on hand to congratulate these two ladies. The Housing Authority participates in a network of 271 housing authorities throughout Saskatchewan that are responsible for the management of social and affordable housing for seniors, families and persons with disabilities who are in need of suitable accommodation. Saltcoats board members are representative of many Saskatchewan residents who invest in their communities with personal time and effort, and the success of Saskatchewan's social housing programs is due in large part to their dedication. In the words of author, Shirley Chisholm, "Service is the rent you pay for time on this earth."

The Saltcoats Housing Authority Board of Directors is responsible for 21 housing units within their community. Present members of the Board of Directors are: Edith Maddaford, Sharon Gibler, Betty Michael and Len Cameron. Cheryl Morphy is the Housing Authority Manager.
